The Dubai Airport Show which took place from May 7 to 9 is a major annual event in the Middle East for the Aviation BU. The simultaneous ATC Forum this year was a unique opportunity to present the BU’s global expertise in airport and air traffic management to our customers, all in one place.

Along with a larger stand with private meeting space, this year Egis actively contributed to the show with a number of speaking roles at the Global Airport Leaders Forum and innovation podium agendas, reflecting the width and depth of the BU’s range of capabilities.

Egis Aviation Director Middle-East, Jacques Khoriaty, took part in a panel on airport privatization, while Aviation strategy and development Director Al Corner moderated a session on air traffic control modernisation to improve safety and efficiency. Principal consultant Rob Williams presented on the impact of innovations on the revenue model for airports. Aside from the conferences, our team also met many customers from the Middle East and Africa on our stand.

On Monday the 16th of April, 2018 in Manama, Bahrain, Mr. Luay Khoury, Chairman of Taawon, Palestine’s largest NGO, awarded Projacs a certificate for the excellent job that led to awarding the Palestinian Museum a Gold LEED certificate. Mr. Nasser Kannan received the certificates on behalf of Projacs International.

Egis Rail KSA celebrated with the first group of Saudi National employees the successful of completed their JEEP training program: Junior Enhancement Engineer Program.

In its HR and staffing strategy, Egis and partners decided to hire Saudi National Graduates who are looking to enhance their technical and soft skills. The enrolled students represented various fields: from architecture to engineering, IT; and both genders: 14 male and 3 female students took part.

All the participants joint Riyadh Metro Project as full time employees, taking the vital roles in this iconic project.

JEEP program allowed Egis to find young talents in line with Saudisation program and to organise a successful knowledge and skills transfer in real project scenario.

The main people behind the implementation and success of JEEP were: Laurent Banlin –  Project Director; Miloud Houat – BUME HR Director; Mohamed Bachiri KSA Executive Manager; Adeel Akber –  Organizational Development Manager; Zainab Al Eid – HR Manager.

Projacs has been awarded Construction Management & Consultancy Services for Bin Al Sheikh Hotel in Doha.

The project launched by Bin Al Sheikh Holding Company is an architecturally striking hospitality building located in one of the fast developing areas of Doha.

The construction will include a 20 floor tower with mezzanine and ground floor, comprising retail section, restaurants and hotel serviced apartments that are intended as “extended stay” apartments. Total floor area will be approx. 76,810 sqm.

The architectural design shows the French influence.

The project may also include a 150 m high steel structure tower that would add an additional flare to the design.

Egis and Projacs have been awarded a contract for: Consultancy Services for Feasibility Study for District Cooling System, Technical Studies for Smart Cities, Developing and Upgrading Building Specs and Zoning Codes and Preparing PAHW Planning and Design Manual.

The State of Kuwait through the Public Authority for Housing and Welfare (PAHW) is implementing a project called South Al Mutlaa City which is anticipated to be a new vibrant urban development for an anticipated 400,000 inhabitant’s population.

As a first of its kind development in Kuwait, the project is covering 4 critical areas in the sector of green buildings and energy efficiency.

The project site is located approximately 40 km from Kuwait City. The total area is 102 sqkm with 90 sqkm of a clear developable area.

The new South Al Matlaa City will comprise of 30,000 homes, 116 schools, 156 mosques, 48 mini markets, 12 public health centers and 3 specialized clinics locates in Al Assimah, Al Mutlaa and Kuwait.

The celebration has been attended by the teams from Projacs – PMC, KEO – Supervision consultant, BOOM –  General contractor, and Client’s representatives.  

KATARA project is located in Doha, north from West Bay area. It spreads over 100 hectares and became a cultural center for art, crafts and educational organisations.

KATARA - South plaza project aims to accommodate more development without affecting the original design of the cultural village.

It Includes:

  • Planetarium
  • Office and Retail buildings
  • Theatre
  • Restaurant
  • Mosque
  • Basement car park
  • Landscape works.

The project completion is scheduled for July 2018.

28th March 2018 marks a truly historic moment for Egis Doha Branch: signing Memorandum of Understanding between Qatar University & Louis Berger Egis Rail JV Joint Cooperation in the field of Internship and direct hire of Graduate students from Qatar University, Qatar Rail Project – Construction Management Services for Phase 1A Green Line Extension.

The MoU has been signed by Dr Omar Al-Ansari, Vice President of Academic Affairs; Belal Deiranieh, Sr. Vice President, Managing Director of Louis Berger Middle East and Alexandre Busson, Country Manager of Egis Qatar; and supported by His Excellency Eric Chevallier, Ambassador of France to Qatar.

This is a significant step towards supporting the local governmental bodies in the implementation of Qatarisation program. The parties believe that the cooperation will enable the exchange of knowledge and experience and establish the process of mentoring young professionals towards their ultimate careers.

Egis Qatar has always strongly supported the local youth programs, providing presentations for various schools and short internships for children. The signed MoU takes this to another level –a streamline of young professionals ready to take on new challenges at real life experience.

Doha, Qatar

Corporate Social Responsibility is taken very seriously in Qatar, especially when it comes to the education.

Shortly after joining the presentation of French companies in Doha, offering some internship programs to students, Egis’ representative – Mathieu Croll, Programme Director for BU VRM took part in professionals forum at Lycee Bonaparte.

Over 200 students between 16 and 18 years old gathered to speak to professionals from various sectors of employment, from army, to hospitality, construction, management etc.

The idea is to give students a chance to speak to professionals before choosing the next educational institution and subsequently a career path.

Doha, Qatar

During his visit to Qatar, Nicolas Jachiet, EGIS Group Chairman and CEO led the inauguration ceremony of the joint offices of Egis and Projacs in Qatar.

Projacs International joined Egis Group mid 2015. The creation of joint offices marks the trend of true collaboration and share of the services – the merger of knowledge and experience allows better understanding of the local market and broader provision of the services.

Mr Jachiet was also able to meet with French Ambassador to Qatar, Mr Eric Chevallier, as well as Senior Management from Qatar Rail.

Kuwait

Egis and Projacs International, also belonging to Egis Group and based in Kuwait organised a presentation of their professional services to the representatives of local authorities and other parties from engineering and construction markets.

The event took place in Four Seasons Hotel on 6th February and gathered the most important persons from the engineering sector. French Ambassador to Kuwait, Her Excellency Mme Marie Masdupuy, made an opening speech highlighting the importance of the business cooperation of Kuwait and France.

VIP speakers: Architect Naser Khraibut, Deputy Director General for Planning & Design at Public Authority for Housing Welfare and Mr Ahmad Al-Hassan, General Manager at Public Authority for Roads & Transportation, spoke about the development plans and the long term vision and goals for Kuwait, Dr Nabil Qaddumi, Projacs Partner and Board Director.

Finally, Mr Nicolas Jachiet, Egis Group Chairman and CEO presented the company’s profile and iconic projects successfully completed worldwide, followed by the presentations on the specific sectors: Rail and Urban Transport, Aviation, Road and Smart Mobility, Urban Development, Architecture & Design and Water.
