For 50 years, the design-realization of metros is a central activity and the heart of Egis’ know-how. Egis is a pioneer in numerous fields of expertise: design of underground works, use of the first bentonite tunnel boring machine in France, new techniques for track laying, and numerous assignments concerning the automation and modernization of equipment for existing metros.

At the origin of the modern tramway in the 1980s, Egis became the European leader in tramway engineering, bringing to each network the excellence of its technical skills and experience, with more than 800 km of achievements worldwide. Always seeking to adapt to the urban context and the increasing demands of users, we are innovating in many areas: from the Tramway Autrement™ (A New Take on the Tramway), a new concept of structuring transport for medium-sized towns, to high capacity tramways adapted to large megacities worldwide.

The technical skills offered by Egis have the advantage of covering all rail business activities through a global and coherent approach to rail, allowing project optimization and better management of the many interfaces.
